THE FOUR plays raunchy garage rock songs with catchy guitar hooks and pumped up drumbeats, alongside a starring role for the ice rocker vocals of frontman Max Timmers, inspired by bands like the Sonics, the Black Keys and Babyshambles but fresh and with an authentic Rotterdam-sound.
On the 17th of June 2014 THE FOUR released Polaroid, the runner-up to Cigarbox (2013). This EP was partly recorded in ‘t Pand, Vlaardingen and partly in the rehearsal room. The EP was also mixed by the bandmembers themselves and the single Through The Lens of Polaroid was mastered by Reinier Rietveld (Studio 2×2).
In the meantime the band has played multiple stages in Netherlands, Belgium and Germany including: Rotown, BAR, Tinto, The PaardCafé, Westerpop, JH ‘t Eiland, Zollkantine, Kalle Co. Werkstatt and on Breminale 2014.
The fourpiece was rewarded at the end of 2013 with an accolade of being in the TOP40 of best acts from Rotterdam by OngekendTalent and has also received praise from 3VOOR12 (Netherlands): “This formation from Rotterdam stands for sounding, popping and energetic garage rock. Well, there’s not a word left to waste over it.” Popunie (Netherlands): “Garageband with a fat sound as thick as mud. The enthusiasm pops, excellent!” and Weser Kurier (Germany) “They have beat-conscience, combining it with old, rough pubrock-elements to create short, crisp songs that are a true pleasure. A really great set from the Rotterdammers.”
Performances are an energetic affair, where the primary focus lies on the music. Max also can’t resist the temptation to solo with his teeth, jump on the drumset, dance across the stage and interact with the audience.
