Doctor Millar (Ireland) announces European tour

Doctor Millar, the alter ego of Dublin songwriter Séan Millar, will return to the road with a series of intimate European shows. Known for his sharp storytelling and dry Dublin wit, Millar has spent decades building a reputation as one of Ireland’s most distinctive songwriters.

Described by Hot Press as “one of Ireland’s greatest songwriters” and by The Irish Times as “an Irish national treasure,” Millar writes songs that sit somewhere between music and short stories. His work blends spoken word, folk and stripped-back songcraft, often drawing on characters, memories and observations from everyday life in Dublin.

Millar first came to prominence in the 1990s as the frontman of The Stunning. In the years since, he has continued to develop a singular body of work under the name Doctor Millar, performing intimate concerts that feel as much like an evening of storytelling as a traditional gig.

Often compared to a meeting point between Leonard Cohen and Jarvis Cocker, Millar’s performances move between humour, melancholy and sharply observed tales from the streets and pubs of Dublin. His shows are known for their closeness to the audience, with songs and spoken passages flowing naturally into one another.

The upcoming tour will bring Doctor Millar to a selection of small venues and listening rooms across Europe, offering audiences the chance to experience these songs in their most direct form.
